Tips on Radio Box Installation

Aeromarine components allow you to construct a truly Water Proof Radio Box, Tailor made to fit your hull perfectly. Here are some help full hints on Radio Box installation and Maintenance.
When laying out or installing the radio equipment in the radio box, try to use the available room effectively. Servos usually need to be mounted on their sides and servo trays greatly simplify installation. They are available for most servos. Seals mounting screw threads with silicone sealant where they pass through the bottom of the box. Arrange servo layout to keep the pushrod near the outer box walls if possible as this will leave the center space unobstructed for placement of the receiver and battery pack. Try to have the rudder serve "pull" for a right turn when possible and use 4-40 size push rods to actuate the rudder. Seals can be held in place with C/A glue. Place masking tap over the areas where you will drill your holes and drill your holes where the push rod is to exit and fine sand the inside of the radio box for a good internal seal and the outside for an external seal. Clean down with Acetone and attach seal. Run a bead of thick C/A glue or Silicone sealant around the seal and any retaining screws and you should be left with a strong, water-proof fitting. Also drill a 1/16" hole for the aerial wire to exit. Seal with silicon. The aerial wire can then be supported and protected with a tube type antenna and transom mount. Make certain you totally enclose your receiver and battery in foam rubber Padding. It is vital that they are protected from as much vibration and impact as possible. A very handy method of venting the radio box and also gaining access for charging and the switch is to bore a 3/4" diameter hole through the transparent lid above where the switch is mounted but out of the way of the tune pipe. Seal the hole with one of Aeromarines Radio Box Plugs. Following these instructions and using Aeromarines Quality components, you will have a trouble (and water) free radio Box.
